Trei Brundrett has been promoted to become the first COO of Vox Media, the publisher of eight editorial brands, including
The Verge and
Recode.Brundrett will oversee Vox’s expansion into video and the company's development of native advertising, the company's top priorities for 2017, CEO Jim Bankoff told
Bloomberg.
Vox’s video views exceeded 2.5 billion last year.
Vox Media has made a few executive appointments recently, lining up a leadership team to oversee
its 800 employees and grow its advertising opportunities.
In late January, Vox appointed its first CMO, promoting Lindsay Nelson from her previous title of VP and head of global brand
strategy.

Nelson oversees a new marketing organization within Vox, which includes the company’s branded content division Vox Creative, digital marketplace Concert, advertising
products, revenue streams — such as share deals with platforms like Facebook — and ad partnerships, as well as Vox’s external marketing efforts.
Brundrett has been
at Vox since 2006. He was previously chief product officer at the organization. Before that, he was VP of products and technology. He led a team that built the company’s online publishing
platform, Chorus.
Brundrett will be succeeded by Joe Alicata, previously VP of revenue product and operations.
The company was founded 14 years ago as sports blog
network SB Nation. It became Vox Media in 2011, under Bankoff’s leadership.
