Brundrett will oversee Vox’s expansion into video and the company's development of native advertising, the company's top priorities for 2017, CEO Jim Bankoff told Bloomberg.
Vox’s video views exceeded 2.5 billion last year.
Vox Media has made a few executive appointments recently, lining up a leadership team to oversee its 800 employees and grow its advertising opportunities.
In late January, Vox appointed its first CMO, promoting Lindsay Nelson from her previous title of VP and head of global brand strategy.
Nelson oversees a new marketing organization within Vox, which includes the company’s branded content division Vox Creative, digital marketplace Concert, advertising products, revenue streams — such as share deals with platforms like Facebook — and ad partnerships, as well as Vox’s external marketing efforts.
Brundrett has been at Vox since 2006. He was previously chief product officer at the organization. Before that, he was VP of products and technology. He led a team that built the company’s online publishing platform, Chorus.
Brundrett will be succeeded by Joe Alicata, previously VP of revenue product and operations.
The company was founded 14 years ago as sports blog network SB Nation. It became Vox Media in 2011, under Bankoff’s leadership.
