Nielsen Goes Dutch, Acquires Netherlands-Based Ad Tracker

Nielsen Media Research International, a unit of a Dutch company that's relocating to New York, Tuesday said it acquired a leading ad tracking company based in the Netherlands. NMRI, a unit of VNU, acquired BBC De Media en Reclame Bank B.V., which monitors ad spending in Dutch media including newspapers, magazines, television, radio, internet, direct mail and cinema. Nielsen, which operates Monitor-Plus in the U.S., said it now tracks ad expenditures in more than 70 countries representing 85 percent of worldwide ad spending. --- J.M.
