'New Yorker' Boots Ryan LIzza For Sexual Misconduct

On Monday, The New Yorker announced that it was parting ways with its longtime star political reporter Ryan Lizza after he was accused of sexual misconduct. Lizza had been with the publication for a decade.

The magazine issued a statement: "We have reviewed the matter and, as a result, have severed ties with Lizza. Due to a request for privacy, we are not commenting further.

CNN, where Lizza appears as an analyst, said he would not appear on the network during the investigation.

Lizza, who had written about high-profile political figures like Barack Obama for the publication and published an infamous expletive-filled interview with White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci just days before the embattled director was fired, expressed dismay at the accusations.

He maintains that his relationship with the unidentified woman was respectful.

However, the accuser’s lawyer, Douglas Wigdor of Wigdor LLP, was quick to issue a statement on behalf of his client, supporting her complaints of misconduct.

Wigdor stated: "Our client reported Mr. Lizza’s actions to ensure that he would be held accountable and in the hope that by coming forward she would help other potential victims."

Last week, Paris Review editor Lorin Stein stepped down from his position after the publication began an internal review of his interactions with female coworkers. Stein and Lizza add to a growing list of top editors and writers whose alleged inappropriate behavior has met with swift, immutable action across the publishing industry.
