Blinkx.TV Adds Video From NYTimes.com, About.com

  • July 14, 2005
Video search company Blinkx.tv this week announced yet another content partnership, this time with The New York Times Company's NYTimes.com and About.com. Earlier this week BusinessWeek Online was added to the list. The deals boost Blinkx's growing database of searchable video content, and makes BusinessWeek's content easier to find on the Web. BusinessWeek's broad video network covers business, finance, and economic events; lifestyle including real estate, and personal finance; and breaking news. Blinkx uses voice recognition software to transcribe the content of audio and video segments, so that users can search by words or phrases to find the exact broadcast material they're looking for. The search engine returns screenshots of the videos, delivering users to the site to watch the ad-supported content. Blinkx currently gives searchers access to videos from over 70,000 hours of online videos, with sources ranging from Reuters to Fox News to ESPN. -- Gavin O'Malley
