The Los Angeles City Council voted to ban the sale of fur products in the city, which would make it the largest U.S. city to do so, according to the
New York Times. However, "The average
temperature in Los Angeles hovers around 75 degrees Fahrenheit, so fur is … maybe not as necessary as in, say, Alaska. But the City Council members hope that their vote could see a ripple
effect." Other California cities, including San Francisco, already have such a ban in place.
