Group Nine Media Taps Siegel as SVP, Distribution

Group Nine Media -- parent company of digital brands like Thrillist and The Dodo -- just named Jeff Siegel its new senior vice president, distribution.

In his new position, Siegel will be responsible for driving sales and strategy around Group Nine’s content network.

Based out of the company’s New York City headquarters, Siegel will report to Mickey Meyer, Group Nine’s Chief Network-IP Management Officer.

Siegel has experience with national and international media distribution, along with sourcing and negotiating TV and digital content sales and licensing deals, according to Meyer.

“As we continue to expand Group Nine’s IP library and evolve onto new platforms and into new formats, Siegel’s experience will be invaluable,” Meyer stated.

Group Nine designs its content to thrive on platforms that are popular with young and engaged consumers. Its network boasts more than 5 billion monthly video views on Facebook Watch and over 120 million social engagements per month.



Additional properties include Seeker for science enthusiasts and video news publisher NowThis. Adding to its content library, Group Nine recently bought Emmy-nominated production studio JASH.

Most recently, Siegel served as head of sicensing and syndication for Verizon’s Go90, where he oversaw off-platform content licensing and syndication for original programming.

In this role, Siegel secured Go90’s first international content licensing deal

Prior to Go90, Siegel served as vice president, international distribution, DEFY Media, where he oversaw content monetization for the digital studio outside of the U.S.
