Disney's ABC Unit Resloves Regulatory Dispute, Rejoins NAB

  • August 4, 2005
Following a two-year hiatus, Walt Disney Co.'s TV and radio properties are rejoining the National Association of Broadcasters. Disney's ABC unit pulled out of the NAB in mid-2003 following a policy dispute over the Federal Communications Commission's proposed deregulation of network TV station ownership rules. The NAB is the main broadcast industry lobbyist. Congress has since passed legislation capping the national audience reach of a single broadcast company to 39 percent. Effective with the new agreement, the ABC TV network, its ten TV stations and Disney's 70 radio stations will once again be members of the NAB. -- Joe Mandese
