
After recently laying off half its
newsroom, according to multiple reports, millennial-focused personal finance site The Penny Hoarder has named Sharon J. Prill its Chief Operating Officer and veteran journalist Molly
Morehead its senior editor and team lead.
Prill will report directly to CEO Kyle Taylor, overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations. She joined the company in September 2018, as
The Penny Hoarder’s first vice president of marketing and brand strategy.

Prior to this, she was COO at Vitalware and held the positions of group publisher and head of digital
operations at various outlets, working with media companies like The Seattle Times, Journal Communications and McClatchy Company.
Taylor noted Prill’s “unique
combination of technical savvy, editorial experience and business acumen” as important attributes that will boost The Penny Hoarder’s future.
As The Penny
Hoarder’s senior editor and team lead, Molly Moorhead will “play a key role in shaping our content strategy to better serve our readers,” stated managing editor John
Schlander.
Moorhead was a Tampa Bay Times editorial board member prior to her role at to The Penny Hoarder. In that role, she aided in shaping the institutional
voice of the newspaper. She comes to her new role with 16 years of experience as an editor and reporter with The Tampa Bay Times. She also served on the national staff of
PolitiFact.com, where she covered the 2012 presidential election.
The Penny Hoarder is said to reach millions of readers monthly across the U.S. and has been ranked one
of the fast-growing private media companies in the country by the Inc. 500/5000.
