Zendesk just announced WhatsApp for Zendesk -- an API connector designed to help businesses more easily reach and respond to WhatsApp users.
The new offering is built on technology from Zendesk’s recent acquisition of Smooch -- a CRM platform that helps brands personalize their messaging across channels.
According to Zendesk, the new offering marks an important next step in delivering connected conversations on additional channels such as Facebook Messenger, LINE, WeChat, Telegram, Twitter DM and more.
“Ultimately, we’re making it easier for companies and customers to communicate in a way that is faster, more convenient and more natural,” said Warren Levitan, vice president of conversational business at Zendesk.
At present, more than 1.5 billion consumers in over 180 countries use WhatsApp.
