Twilio Launches Crisis Prevention Network

SendGrid owner Twilio has created a crisis prevention initiative designed to help nonprofits communicate during times of crisis, the company announced this week at its annual developer conference.

Launched by Twilio.org, Twilio’s social impact arm, the Crisis Response Technology Network will enable nonprofits to serve individuals and communities.

Professionals such as engineers and program specialists will help nonprofit groups use technology to decrease response times.

Charter members of the network include Child Helpline International, International Rescue Committee, Partnership for Drug-Free Kids (Center on Addiction), Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, Save The Children and Trevor Project.

“Nonprofits want to deliver the right message at the right time to the right person, all at the scale of the problem they’re tackling,” states Erin Reilly, vice president of Social Impact and general manager of Twilio.org.

In addition, Twilio.org will donate $5 million in grants this year to help nonprofits address domestic violence, substance abuse, sexual assault, suicide prevention and mental health and natural disasters.
