'Axios' Appoints Drumond As First CRO

Axioshas hired its first Chief Revenue Officer, Fabricio Drumond.

Drumond does not come from a media background. Most recently, he was an executive at Brazilian-based global bio-tech solutions company SuperBAC, according to Business Insider, which first reported the news.

Drumond has “tremendous experience growing and scaling businesses,” Axios president-cofounder Roy Schwartz told Publishers Daily.

In prior roles, Drumond expanded teams from 60 employees to 400 and was able to grow revenue from $10 million to $100 million, Schwartz said.

“I think hiring someone of his caliber, and adding him to the team of first-rate executives we have, says a lot about the grand ambitions of this company,” he added.

Axios has plans to expand internationally and soon launch a paid subscription product, according to Business Insider.

Drumond will take on the new role at the end of the month and report to Schwartz.

A few weeks ago, Axios announced it was adding another new position to the company, naming Sara Kehaulani Goo as executive editor.
