Vice Media Taps Ramin Arani As CFO

Following its recent merger with women-focused brand Refinery29, Vice Media has named Fidelity Investments veteran Ramin Arani its new CFO, Variety reports.

Arani spent 26 years with Fidelity Investments as a portfolio manager and fund manager of the Fidelity Puritan Fund, prior to his new role. He also has experience across various areas, including media, technology, real estate and retail.

As CFO, Arani will head all financial and accounting functions at the company, while unifying the financial operations of Refinery29 and Vice Media. Part of his role will also deal with “driving future strategic opportunities,” according to Variety.

Vice Media says Arani was previously an advisor on its board of directors on behalf of Fidelity.

CEO Nancy Dubuc, to whom Arani will report, stated: “Ramen's extensive investment experience in media and technology will help shape our future strategic direction and growth across our global footprint and businesses as the media industry continues to evolve.”

Arani replaces former Vice Media COO/CFO Sarah Broderick, who left the company a year ago. Since then, Kerem Bolukbasi has been filling the role of CFO. Bolukbasi, who is an executive at TPG Capital, will return to TPG at the end of the year, reports Variety.

Previously, Vice Media announced a slew of new leadership roles following the close of its $400 million deal with Refinery29 earlier this month.
