8AM Golf brands Nicklaus Design and Golf magazine are tapping the expertise of their audiences with the inaugural round of the Golf Magazine + Nicklaus Design Challenge.
Launched this week, the contest asks golfers to create their vision of a perfect par 4 hole.
The winner will be selected by the Nicklaus Design team and editors and readers from Golf magazine and Golf.com. In addition to winning a trip to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the winner will see their design inspire a par 4 on a Nicklaus Design course.
The contest allows Golf.com to engage its readers via round of voting in April. After 10 finalists have been selected, those designs will be rendered in 2-D models and published on Golf.com.
Golf.com also published a beginner’s guide to golf-hole design, which features Nicklaus Design associate Chad Goetz.

The contest follows a push by Golf to expand its offerings and content after its acquisition by Howard Milstein in 2017 for an estimated $15 million. Golf was previously owned by Time Inc.
Early last year, delivering on his intentions, Milstein unveiled a larger, richer Golf, boasting more voices, advertising pages and content.
