Meg Whitman, CEO of the upcoming Quibi short-form
video streamer, lashed out against the media at an “all hands” staff meeting last Thursday, “drawing an analogy between reporters who cultivate sources and sexual predators who prey
on underage victims,” reports The Information, based on “two
people who heard her comments.”
The sources said that Whitman made the comments while noting that someone had leaked an internal memo about a recent fundraising from
Quibi’s CFO. The Information reported on that memo on January 10.
They story adds that some Quibi employees reportedly found Whitman’s remarks “strange
and off-putting.”
In response, Quibi issued a statement saying in part: “This reporting from The Information is materially inaccurate... Quibi has the utmost respect for
journalists and has hired and is partnering with some of the most trusted names in news and information."
