SourceMedia Relaunches As Arizent, Introduces Peer Network

Business information, media and events company SourceMedia has relaunched as Arizent.

The company, a B2B publisher for professionals in the finance, technology and healthcare industries, owns American Banker, The Bond Buyer, PaymentsSource, Financial Planning, Digital Insurance and Accounting Today, among other brands.

SourceMedia is changing more than its name. It is introducing a peer network, a research division and brand studio. Arizent also announced more than 150 new marketing partners.

The company “is evolving its model to connect business professionals, as well as partners, around powerful ideas driving their industry forward. Our goal is to clearly express our value proposition as it exists today to our various constituents," Gemma Postlethwaite, CEO of Arizent, told Publishers Daily.

“There is a lot of financial-services information available online, but there is increasingly less journalistic integrity online and in the live event channel," she continued. "In addition, news alone will not help companies and professionals to advance in a rapidly changing environment. They also need education, data and peer support to lead them forward.”

Postlethwaite was named chief executive in March 2018. She was previously CEO of Pira Energy Group, which was acquired by S&P Global in 2016.

The executive peer network is called Arizent Leaders. It will focus on “creating tangible outcomes in gender equality across the financial services industry," according to the company.

Postlethwaite said this network, which integrates the company's editorial, live event and research capabilities, needed "a strong parent brand to represent this effort. Our legacy name was appropriate for media, but did not capture the idea of advancing careers, businesses and our industry,” she said.

The peer network builds on awards programs like American Banker’s "The Most Powerful Women in Banking."

Arizent has a new research division to gather data and benchmark metrics to support reporting across all titles and live events.

The company's new brand studio will "leverage its insight into the business community as well as new leadership from top agencies like Interbrand and R/GA." Brands are using the studio to produce podcast and video content, as well as connect live event and digital channels.

Arizent's name was selected because it "evokes the idea of rising up, which is central to our mission of advancing professional communities," Postlethwaite said.
