Google Adds More Protection For Nest Accounts

In a move to increase privacy and security, Google plans to require two-factor authentication to Nest accounts starting this spring.

The feature had been available as an option, which will be change to a requirement.

After logging in to an account, an email will be sent with a six-digit verification code.

“That code will be used to make sure it’s you trying to login,” states the announcement. “Without it, you won’t be able to access your account.”

Nest account holders also will be required to migrate to Google accounts.

Google started login notifications late last year.
