'Time' Publishes COVID-19 Issue, Collaborates With Katie Couric On 2 Video Series

Time deepens its COVID-19 coverage with two new short-form videos, produced in collaboration with Katie Couric, and an issue focused on front-line workers.

The series, called “Time Reports With Katie Couric: Frontline Heroes” and “Time Reports With Katie Couric: The New Normal,” will air for the next three months. In addition to her work as a journalist, Couric is a co-producer for each show.

“Frontline Heroes” focuses on inspiring individuals risking their health and lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Couric is set to interview an EMT, nurse and police detective who also works as a physician’s assistant in episode one.

“The New Normal” explores personal health and wellness through the lens of the pandemic.

The series will air on Time.com and across the social channels of both Time and Katie Couric Media.

“I deeply respect the talented and hardworking journalists at Time and am looking forward to collaborating on these inspiring stories of courage during this extraordinary and unsettling period. This is indeed a ‘new normal’ and providing useful ways to help us all get through it is something I’m very proud to be a part of,” stated Couric.

The new series coincide with this week’s issue of Time, which is focused on those working on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic. The special report features personal stories from dozens of doctors, nurses, delivery drivers and others risking their health during the crisis.

The report also features six videos with footage taken by those working on the front lines. They offer a distinct point of view of what life is like during the pandemic.

In a letter to readers, Time editor in chief-CEO Edward Felsenthal wrote: "This fight is being waged in large measure by front-line responders, from the medical workers risking their lives to the delivery people and pharmacy employees who aren’t able to stay in their homes to the coroners who are confronting wartime body counts. This issue is dedicated to them.”
