Curbed EIC Kelsey Keith Steps Down After 5 Years

Editor in chief of CurbedKelsey Keith is leaving after five years in the role, effective May 1.

“Working with this team has been the highlight of my career, and I truly believe we've changed the conversation around homes and cities, architecture and urbanism, in profound ways,” Keith wrote on Twitter.

She will continue to work with Vox Media, consulting on special projects for Curbed and staying on as executive producer of the podcast “Nice Try!”

The company is furloughing 9% of staff and implementing tiered salary reductions for employees making over $130,000.

Curbed managing editor Mariam Aldhahi tweeted that "half of Curbed" is being furloughed.

Going forward, Aldhahi and executive editor Mercedes Kraus will report to Amanda Kludt, editor in chief of Eater and senior vice president of Eater and Curbed, according to a staff memo from Vox Media publisher Melissa Bell.

They will work together on the “next steps” for Curbed.

The company furloughs will last from May 1 to July 31. They also impact the editorial staff of Vox Media's SB Nation, as well as the teams in sales, sales support, production, events and IT and office operations.

Vox Media is freezing salary increases and 401(k) matching contributions through the end of the year.
