'Wired' To Launch Gaming Vertical

Wired will debut a gaming vertical in October.

Wired Games will publish game reviews, service content and investigative stories, as well as two new video series and two weekly series on Twitch, the video live streaming platform.

“I'm excited to bring you the work of the amazing crew of people we're putting together to make this happen,” tweeted service editor Alan Henry, who will oversee the section.

Henry joined the Condé Nast tech magazine in April.

He was previously senior digital strategist at The New York Times and an editor for the Smarter Living section. He has also served as editor in chief of Gawker Media’s Lifehacker.

Since January, Wired has experienced an increase of more than 84% year-over-year in traffic to its gaming coverage, according to AdExchanger, which first reported the news.

Game reviews and buying guides outperform the Wired.com median for driving subscriptions by more than 59%.

Wired.com has had a paywall since 2018.
