On the cusp of the split-up of Viacom into two separate media conglomerates, MTV Networks is expected to name Michael Wolf, one of the best regarded and most influential media industry management
consultants, as its president-COO, reports
The New York Times. As a managing partner at McKinsey & Co., and at Booz Allen Hamilton before that, Wolf has headed the entertainment and media
consulting practices that have both directed and reshaped many of the world's biggest media organizations, including Time Warner, News Corp. and Viacom. The move comes as Viacom prepares to split into
two separate publicly traded companies: one, expected to be named Viacom, which will include MTV Networks and Paramount Pictures; the other, which may be called CBS, which will include CBS, UPN, and
Infinity.
