Mary Kate McGrath is joining Some Spider Studios as Chief Operating Officer, where she will co-manage the businesses of the company’s parenting brands, including Scary Mommy, Fatherly and The Dad.

She will work closely with Vinit Bharara, Some Spider’s CEO-founder. McGrath takes on the role of COO on January 4, 2021.

McGrath was previously Chief Content Officer at Gallery Media Group, where she oversaw PureWow, ONE37pm and other media brands.

Some Spider recently announced it would bring in $35 million in revenue this year — $5 million will be profit, according to Axios reporting.

The company’s goal is to hit $50 million in revenue in 2021, and $10 million in profit. Most of the company’s business relies on advertising.

Some Spider Studios acquired Fatherly in March. At the time, the companies said their combined revenue was $35 million in 2019. 

Scary Mommy said it had made $6 million in profits last year.
