Alexi McCammond has been named editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue. She will oversee editorial cross-platform: digital, video and social media. She takes up her post on March 24.

Most recently, McCammond covered Joe Biden’s presidential campaign for Axios. Previously, she worked as a news editor for  Bustle and joined Axios in 2017.

McCammond also was a political contributor to NBC and MSNBC, as well as "Axios on HBO." The National Association of Black Journalists named her “Emerging Journalist of the Year” in 2019.

“Alexi has the powerful curiosity and confidence that embodies the best of our next generation of leaders,” said Anna Wintour, global editorial director of Vogue and Chief Content Officer of Condé Nast. “Her interest in fashion, wellness and important issues in the lives of the Teen Vogue audience and broad knowledge of business leaders, elected officials, influencers, photographers and filmmakers is unrivaled.” 

The new EIC is joining the digital-only publication with a strong readership. In January, Teen Vogue recorded 10.8M unique views (+21% YoY), and the site had its best month on record in terms of time spent, with over 18 million minutes (+86% YoY).

“Teen Vogue is the place where the next generation of our culture’s biggest influencers want to be,” said McCammond. She added she hopes to build a “community of ambitious, curious and fashion-forward young leaders and help lift their voices so they can become our next great leaders, thinkers and artists.” 

Separately, Oxford American has revamped its editorial masthead and HQ.

It recently moved from downtown Little Rock to the campus of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas.

Eliza Borné will step down from her role as editor of the Oxford American. Borné, who joined as associate editor in 2013, was named editor two years later, will join the Central Arkansas Library System as the director of development.

Danielle A. Jackson, who joined the OA as managing editor in February 2020, will serve as interim editor after Borné exits on March 19. She will be the first Black EIC in the magazine’s 29-year history.

Also, Dr. Sara A. Lewis, the magazine’s executive editor, was promoted to executive director. Lewis has been leading the OA’s digital initiatives since 2018. She is the host and co-producer of the OA podcast, “Points South.”

Ryan Harris, the OA’s former executive director, will become the organization’s finance director.
