Dominion Voting Systems Files $1.6B Suit Against Fox News

Dominion Voting Systems has filed a $1.6-billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News, asserting that the cable news channel "broadcast a series of verifiably false yet devastating lies" accusing the election software company of engaging in an anti-Trump conspiracy to influence the 2020 presidential election.
"Fox sold a false story of election fraud in order to serve its own commercial purposes, severely injuring Dominion in the process," charges the lawsuit, filed Friday in Delaware Superior Court. "If this case does not rise to the level of defamation by a broadcaster, then nothing does."
Dominion's complaint says the company recently lost major election contracts in Georgia and Louisiana, and that it now faces "the hatred, contempt, and distrust of tens of millions of American voters.”
Dominion had already filed similar lawsuits against Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, and My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell, but has to date not filed suit against any Fox News hosts.
Following the news of the new Dominion lawsuit, Fox issued a statement saying the network is "proud of our 2020 election coverage, which stands in the highest tradition of American journalism, and will vigorously defend against this baseless lawsuit in court."
Another election tech company, Smartmatic, filed a $2.7-billion defamation suit against Fox Corp., Fox News and news anchors Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro in early February. Fox News subsequently discontinued Dobbs' show.
Fox has filed motions to dismiss Smartmatic's suit, arguing First Amendment protection and that the channel was just doing its job by presenting varying opinions to its viewers,
A baseless & meritless lawsuit Dominion clearly doesn't know the law or what defamation is either. Fox News should counter Dominion along with Smatmatic's for a billion dollars which both companies aren't going to get a billion dollars may be in the millions but not billions of these cases should be tossed.
Bless your heart -- it would seem that a lot of smart attorney-types think the suit(s) have foundation and merit. I'd also bet real money that these same attorneys are all up to speed on the law and the legal requirements for defamation as well. I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere there's an email from an EP to corporate leadership saying (in effect) "who cares if it's true, our ad time is totally booked!"
