A new multi-year agreement calls for Univision to use Google technology to build an integrated digital infrastructure to support media and advertising growth across channels and devices.
The eight-year deal is reportedly worth $8 billion.
That will allow for applying artificial intelligence and machine learning across Univision’s content libraries, to drive personalized customer recommendations and enhance customer data gathering and audience insights for advertisers, according to Univision.
Google will also help Univision expand its streaming offerings to global markets, across screens — in part through an expanded YouTube partnership and integrating Google Search entertainment features to drive content discovery.
In addition, Univision will distribute its content and services on Google Play across Android phones and tablets, as well as Google TV and other Android TV OS devices.
The company will use Google Ad Manager for ad decisioning globally and Google's Dynamic Ad Insertion for its new streaming service, PrendeTV, and future video-on-demand offerings.
Univision, the leading U.S. Spanish-language media company, has “set out to be the most important global Spanish-language media company,” CEO Wade Davis said in announcing the deal. “Our partnership with Google is a critical piece of our transformation.”
