Bloomberg Media has named Soo Kang as the global head of Bloomberg Media Distribution.
She will be tasked with accelerating Bloomberg’s Media Distribution business across content partnerships, licensing and TV/OTT distribution.
Bloomberg’s regional leads —Josh Bassett (EMEA), Dan Molloy (APAC) and Margot Schupf (Americas) and their teams — will “report into Soo,” writes Scott Havens, Chief Growth Officer-global head of partnerships for Bloomberg, in a staff memo.
Previously, Soo served at Pearson PLC in a variety of senior executive roles, and was a member of the company’s global leadership team. She also led international operations out of New York for Hearst Publications and Time, Inc, and was “a path-breaker in opening up the Chinese market to western media brands, Havens continues.
“Soo brings over 25 years of global management experience in New York, Beijing, Seoul and Jakarta leading operations for internationally recognized media and content brands, including established multinationals, growth ventures, and start ups,” writes Havens.

She also served as CEO of the second-largest provider of English-language training in China with 263 owned and franchised centers in 124 cities headquartered from Beijing.
In addition, Soo was the “principal founder of two privately-financed international businesses -- DMZ Media, a licensee of Western magazine brands commercialized in South Korea, and LuckyG Media, a global publisher of early learning software for smartphones and tablets,” Havens notes.
