BMW Art Car Project in which artists Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons used BMW vehicles as canvases for original artwork needed updating, but it became a challenge in 2020 for the carmaker. Artificial intelligence solved it by feeding 900 years of artwork into an algorithm that generated a pastiche of original art, and then digitally projected it onto the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe canvas. The artwork, promoted on social media like YouTube and Instagram, also generated an estimated 50 million media impressions from earned placements, including Highsnobiety and COOL HUNTING.
