Netflix is bringing back the comedy series that made Volodymyr Zelensky famous and led to his being elected president of Ukraine.  The streamer announced the move in a tweet that cited popular demand.

In a case of fiction more or less turned reality, “Servant of the People” features Zelensky playing a high school teacher who was propelled to the presidency after a video of him denouncing corruption in Ukraine goes viral. 

The series, produced by Zelenskyy’s Studio Kvartel 95, launched in 2015 and ran for three seasons. 

The series’ distributor, Eccho Rights, has said that the demand for the show has leapt since Russia waged war on Ukraine. 

Netflix had been offering “Servant of the People” prior to its licensing expiring last February.
