Leaf Group Names Kate Lowenstein SVP, GM For Health Websites

Leaf Group, publisher of 12 media brands, last week named Kate Lowenstein to the role of senior vice president and general manager overseeing the company’s health and wellness websites, Well+Good and Livestrong.com.

Together, the two brands reach an audience of nearly 20 million.

Lowenstein is the former global editor-in-chief of Vice.com, where she was responsible for overseeing editorial coverage around the world. Previously, she conceived and launched Vice’s health and wellness brand, Tonic.

Earlier she served at Prevention magazine, Time Inc.’s Health magazine, and About.com.

Well+Good and Livestrong.com experienced 25% and 29% growth, respectively, in visitors from January 2021 to January 2022, the company said in a press release announcing Lowenstein’s appointment.

Well+Good’s video channel views have grown 93% in the first quarter of 2022, compared to the prior-year period. Commerce revenue for the brand has grown 291% in the same time. The brand has a full suite of content offerings, including live events, a video channel, a podcast, and a commerce platform.

For its part, Livestrong.com delivers health, nutrition, and fitness information through its website and has a highly engaged social media community

Leaf Group, based in Santa Monica, California, also publishes home, art and design titles, as well as personal finance and other topics.
