Pugpig Acquires Archive Platform Bondi Digital

Pugpig, a firm that helps news media and publishers launch websites, digital editions and mobile apps, has acquired Bondi Digital, a digital archive platform. Terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition grows Pugpig’s business significantly in the U.S.. and adds “an extremely cool capability to the Pugpig platform,” states Jonny Kaldor, co-founder and CEO of Pugpig.

Pugpig can now offer searchable digital archives for use by journalists, researchers, students and historians, the firm says.

Founded in London in 2011, Pugpig counts Conde Nast, Hearst Magazines UK, Golf Digest, The Economist, News Corp and Scientific American among its clients. It has offices in London in New York, and the Bondi support team will join the latter.

Pugpig offers Pugpig Site, a platform that allows publishers to quickly launch SEO-optimized websites, and Pugpig Bolt, a tool that powers mobile apps and digital editions on iOS, Android and the web, the firm says.

Bondi serves such titles as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest, Creem and Macleans.

“It’s been almost seventeen years since our first archive project, The Complete New Yorker box set,” states Murat Aktar, co-founder of Bondi Digital. “During that time we have had a seat at the table with some of the brightest minds in publishing, developing tools and strategies to bring the printed history of these iconic magazines online.”
