"The travel industry, "facing significant labor shortages," has begun to hire older and retired people for part-time work -- folks who are "shameless about the fact that they’re in it for the
perks," according to
TheNew York Times. "With their new part-time jobs, some older workers have found a chance to break in a passport for the very first time." Their employers have
found perks in the arrangement as well: "In this labor climate, it’s awesome just to have somebody who is professional and reliable,” noted one hotel manager.
