Home Depot, Estee Lauder Execute Top-Level Personnel Changes

Both the Home Depot and Estee Lauder are making high-level marketing changes.

The Home Depot, which has been without a chief marketing officer for several months, has hired Molly Battin as its new senior vice president and CMO. She replaces Adolfo Villagomez, who left the Atlanta-based company in May to become CEO of Progress Residential, a large rental-home manager.

Battin had been senior vice president and global brand marketing officer at Delta Air Lines, where she oversaw all aspects of global brand strategy and marketing execution. Before that, she spent 19 years at WarnerMedia, most recently serving as chief corporate marketing and brand strategy officer.

Estee Lauder is also mixing things up at the top. In an extensive restructuring of its brand portfolios, the beauty giant promoted Stéphane de La Faverie to executive group president.

He joins Jane Hertzmark Hudis, who already holds that title, in a new two-cluster approach.

Hertzmark Hudis continues to lead a portfolio that includes La Mer, Bobbi Brown, M·A·C, Clinique, Origins, Aveda, Bumble and bumble, Dr.Jart+ and Tom Ford Beauty. She also continues in certain enterprise-wide efforts, including those focused on marketing excellence and winning with Chinese consumers.

De La Faverie’s portfolio will continue to include Estée Lauder, Aerin beauty, Jo Malone London, Le Labo, Kilian Paris, Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle, Darphin Paris and LAB Series. He’ll add the company’s California-based companies, including Glamglow, Too Faced and Smashbox.

Lauder has  also promoted Justin Boxford to global brand president, Estée Lauder. And Michelle Freyre rises to global brand president, Clinique and Origins.

The company says the moves create a management structure that promotes cross-brand synergies.

“This evolution further positions The Estée Lauder Companies’ brands to win with consumers in a complex and continuously changing beauty landscape,” said Fabrizio Freda, chief executive officer, in the announcement. He add that it “elevates our internal talent bench and organizational planning to position us well to deliver on the company’s long-term strategy with agility.”
