Peacock Premium Plus To Add NBC Affiliate Stations Livestream

In the latest salvo in the battle to win streaming subscribers, NBCUniversal is adding 24/7 livestreamed access to all 210 of NBC’s local affiliate stations to Peacock Premium Plus subscriptions.

That means access to the full, with-ads NBC lineup, including local news, sports and weather and NBC’s daytime and prime-time programming, including “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt,” “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” and “The Today Show” — along with Peacock’s ad-free on-demand movies, series and channels — for $9.99 per month.

Peacock already livestreams some NBC news and sports programming, as well as WWE events. Peacock rival Paramount+ offers CBS stations, and Hulu offers a selection of local stations.

NBC affiliates, which have tended to be suspicious of the competition from Peacock, may have become amenable to the livestreaming offering in part as a result of NBCU’s considering giving the 10 p.m. prime-time hour back to the local stations.

Maintaining access to live local news and sports is one reason that some households are still paying high monthly fees for traditional pay-TV.

Subscribers will automatically see their geotargeted, local channels appear on the platform in the channels page, which can be accessed through the main navigation, “mirroring a broadcast experience all in one place,” noted NBCU.

Some Premium Plus subscribers will begin to have access to the affiliate channels starting today, and all stations will be available as of Nov. 30.

“With Peacock’s local affiliate livestream, our subscribers are getting the unique combination of the ad-free on-demand content they love with the local news and NBC programming that is already part of their daily life,” said Kelly Campbell, president, Peacock and Direct-to-Consumer, NBCU. “NBC affiliates have long been an integral part of local communities, and we look forward to being another point of connection and engagement for those communities across the country.”
