OpenWeb Acquires Jeeng To Fuel Tailored Engagement For Publishers

OpenWeb, an engagement platform serving over 1,000 publishers, today announced it has acquired the audience management company Jeeng, its third purchase within the last 12 months . Terms were now disclosed. 

Jeeng utilizes AI technology to support over 650 publishers, including VICE Media, The Atlantic, Crain’s, HarperCollins, and Vox Media. It leverages first-party data to deliver content tailored to users’ interests via email, push and other channels, serving 150 million unique visitors per month, OpenWeb says. 

“With the demise of third-party cookies, collapsing trust in social media, and the segmentation of online audiences, publishers and advertisers need to talk to their users one-on-one, in a personalized way,” states Nadav Shoval, CEO and co-founder of OpenWeb. “With Jeeng’s capabilities, we can continue to build and strengthen those individual relationships.”

OpenWeb CFO Haim Sasson adds that the unified company will be a “partner for publishers and advertisers to move away from the walled gardens of social media and establish more thoughtful, more secure connections with audiences.”



Jeeng’s 60+ employees will join OpenWeb in its New York City and Tel Aviv offices.

OpenWeb serves such publishers as The New York Times, Hearst, Yahoo!, Penske Media Corporation, and News Corp.

Earlier this month, the company acquired Hive Media for $60 million. Last April, it purchased  ADYOULIKE, a global advertising platform, for $100 million.

The company recently raised $170 million in Series F funding, bringing its total valuation to $1.5 billion, it says.
