'In the Dark' Podcast Acquired By Conde Nast

"In the Dark," an award-winning investigative podcast, is joining The New Yorker and Condé Nast Entertainment, The New Yorker reports.

Condé Nast acquired the podcast from American Public Media. Terms were not disclosed.

“In the Dark" is the winner of two Peabody Awards and a George Polk Award.

The podcast, hosted by lead reporter Madeleine Baran, revealed prosecutorial misconduct in the case of Curtis Flowers, a Black man convicted of murder and sentenced to death in Mississippi. Flowers’ conviction was reversed by the U.S. Supreme Court, and he was freed.

Baran and managing producer Samara Freemark will collaborate with the New Yorker team on new narrative series in the magazine’s most ambitious foray into long-form audio journalism.

"In the Dark" joins The New Yorker’s other audio offerings, including "The New Yorker Radio Hour" and a stable of podcasts, the magazine says.
