Hearst Connecticut Media Group, a collection of eight daily newspapers in the state, is close to acquiring the Journal Inquirer, a paper in Manchester, according to local reports.
“In anticipation of an agreement to acquire the Journal Inquirer, we are excited about the prospect of integrating the Journal Inquirer into the Hearst Connecticut Media Group,” says Mike DeLuca, publisher and president of Hearst Connecticut, according to CT Insider.
There was no word at deadline that a deal had been reached.
HCMG employs almost 170 journalists at Connecticut Post, Greenwich Time, The Middletown Press, The New Haven Register, The News-Times, The Norwalk Hour, The Register Citizen and Stamford Advocate, 13 weekly newspapers, Connecticut Magazine and an estimated 16 websites.
