Spectrum Down On Monday, But Firm Says Service Is Restored

The Spectrum telecom network suffered outages, affecting email senders and recipients, on Monday.  

Spectrum went offline around 10:30 a.m. ET, and was still not functioning at 2:30 ET. Spectrum had said it would be back up and running by 12:30 p.m. Later in the afternoon, it announced that service had been restored. 

The outage affected Gmail, Microsoft Outlook and other email services. 

Meanwhile, thousands of Microsoft Outlook users complained of inability to access the platform. If was not clear if this problem was related to the Spectum outage.

The business impact is unclear, but users apparently are unable to retrieve or respond to email messages. 

Downdetector reports that 47% of the reported problems concern landline internet, 28% involved a total blackout and 26% said there was no signal. 

The comments on Downdetector include: 

“Down for the past 14 hours in South Texas”

“Hilton Head Island out since about 11:00”

The affected areas include New York City, Tampa, Cleveland, Dallas, Los Angeles, Houston and Buffalo.
