The Fastest Pizza: Domino's Delivers Via Jetpack

Domino’s Pizza delivered its first pizza via jetpack in the U.K. last week -- at the Glastonbury festival, which featured “Rocketman” Elton John performing

Sam Wilson, Domino's jet suit deployment director, told The Daily Mail that, “When we realized pitching up to serve slices inside the festival was impossible, we took inspiration from this years' headliner to launch our own rapid delivery trial – it was a bit of a no brainer.”

The suits, manufactured by Gravity Industries, are worth hundreds of thousands of British pounds. Gravity customized a suit that keep the pilot safe and the pizza warm.

Domino’s hasn’t said whether this was a one-off or if it plans to launch delivery via jetpack. Google parent Alphabet can now use drones to reach homes in Australia, Finland and the U.S. Amazon launched its Prime Air project a decade ago.

Domino’s also struck a deal with self-driving delivery company Nuro in 2021. Domino’s customers in parts of Houston can choose to have deliveries from Nuro’s R2 robot. Nuro’s R2 is the first completely autonomous, occupant-ess on-road delivery vehicle with regulatory approval by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Domino’s previously tested self-driving delivery with Ford, with a vehicle that was staffed with a driver.
