Valnet Inc., a digital media investment company, has acquired How-To-Geek, an publishing platform specializing in technology reviews and news and buyer’s guides.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Valnet says it will invest in How-To Geek’s Virginia office space. And it will use the staff resources to deliver product content not only in How-To-Geek but across the entire Valnet publishing portfolio, it added.
Founded in 2007, How-To-Geek has published over 20,000 articles, Valnet says.
The site has been “averaging a steady daily readership of over 1 million strong over the last several years and still today, the site gets 60% of its traffic from desktop users which is simply unheard of these days, even in that general tech vertical!” says Hassan Youssef, CEO at Valnet.
For his part, How-To Geek founder and CEO Lowell Heddings comments that “we specifically chose Valnet because not only are they willing to invest in growth but they have a proven track record of completing successful acquisitions and taking sites to the next level.”
Quebec-based Valnet operates such brands as MovieWeb, Screen Rant, Game Rant, The Travel, The Things and Simple Flying, and claims over 5 billion sessions per year.
