Initially launched in 2022 as an April Fool’s joke on social media, the CurderBurger is now returning to the QSR chain Culver's in real life today.
Culver’s is known for its fried cheese curds, sourced exclusively from La Grander Hillside Dairy in Stanley, Wisconsin.
Starting as a one-day virtual social prank and morphing into a limited-time offering in 2022, the item consists of the chain’s Deluxe ButterBurger topped with a fried cheese crown made of a blend of yellow and white cheddar cheese curds surrounded by seasoned breadcrumbs. The burger became a reality after the prank spurred “an influx of guest comments, pleas and even a few petitions (for the CurderBurger)” according to Culver’s website. This time the burger will be available at Culver's locations nationwide from Oct. 2 through Oct. 31, or while supplies last.

The chain, founded in Wisconsin and operating over 900 locations in 26 states, sold close to one million CurderBurgers during its limited time run in 2022.
Culver’s has created promotional items for this year’s LTO, and guests will have the chance to win the exclusive swag if they share a photo of themselves eating the CurderBurger on social media and tag #ReturnoftheCurderBurger from Oct. 4 through Oct. 18.
The return of the burger also coincides with National Cheese Curd Day on Oct. 15, a holiday invented by Culver's in 2015. The chain will promote the day with its cheese curd mascot, Curdis the Curd Nerd, taking over the @culvers Instagram account. Curdis the Curd Nerd already has quite the social presence, with travel and yoga photos of the cute glasses wearing orange “spokescurd” across Instagram, Facebook, X and Curdis’ own blog, providing advice on how to assemble the best charcuterie plate, Midwest travel tips, and the 10 cheesiest jokes.
