Business Insider has named Barbara Peng, who has been with the company since 2015, as CEO.

Founder Henry Blodget now becomes board chair. 

Peng has held several key positions since joining, and was named president in 2021. 

“In the face of challenges, Barbara has shown a remarkable ability to maintain clear focus on the long-term while building a strong team and developing a smart strategy that will strongly position Business Insider for the years ahead,” Blodget says.

For his part, Blodget adds, “It has been an amazing privilege to lead our incredible team for the last 16 years, and I’m excited to be launching new projects with Business Insider and Axel Springer in the years ahead.” 

Business Insider was founded in 2007 as Silicon Alley Insider. In addition to startups and technology, its original focus, it now covers finance, markets and other topics.
