Guardian Media Group And Sony Pictures Sign Exclusive Content Deal

The Guardian Media Group has signed an agreement with Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), providing the latter with exclusive rights to all Guardian journalism.

The plan could lead to creation of television programs and other forms of video content based on Guardian reporting, according to Variety.

The arrangement would provide SPE, including all of its television production groups, with access not only to current Guardian stories, but to archival content spanning its 200-year history.

“To be able to draw on The Guardian’s extraordinary journalism, past, present and future, to create a new generation of dramas, documentaries and movies, is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us at Sony Pictures,” says Wayne Garvie, president, international production, Sony Pictures Television, Variety reports.
