Tim Hortons Celebrates 60th Anniversary With Retro Donuts

Tim Hortons is bringing back some of its past favorites chainwide to honor its 60th  anniversary in Canada and 40 years in the U.S.

On Jan. 10, two old-school customer favorites will return for a limited time: the Walnut Crunch, a chocolatey cake donut speckled with walnuts throughout and lightly glazed, and the Cinnamon Twist, a yeast twist donut tossed in cinnamon sugar.

"This year represents a … series of milestones at Tim Hortons, and we can't wait to celebrate them with our guests," said Tim Hortons U.S. President Katerina Glyptis in a release. The company says it will “introduce Tim Hortons to more Americans in 2024, with plans to open more restaurants and launch in new markets."

Since it began as one coffee shop in Canada in 1964, Tim Hortons has grown to more than 5,100 systemwide restaurants in Canada, the U.S and worldwide.

To continue the anniversary festivities, beginning Jan. 20 guests will receive their orders in special 60th-anniversary packaging, including limited-time designs for the red Tims cup, Timbit boxes and donut boxes, while supplies last.

Tim Hortons is also commemorating January as “Member Month” for the chain’s Tims Rewards loyalty club members, who will receive a free medium hot or iced coffee with a $2 purchase every Monday.

The coffee chain is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of Tim Hortons Foundation this year, which has supported over 315,000 underserved youth since its inception through operating Tim Hortons Foundation Camps. The camps, per the foundation’s website, “are designed to equip young people from low-income families with the skills they need to design their future.”
