Ontario's 'Argus Observer' Reduces Print Schedule

The wave of publishing cutbacks is now affecting our North American neighbor.

The Argus Observer, of Ontario, is reducing its print publishing frequency from four days to two, effective March 1. The paper is also closing its Ontario printing operation, and will now print the paper in Nampa.

Moreover, the Wednesday and Saturday print editions will be delivered by post, according to Malheur Enterprise.

“We are confident you will get accustomed to receiving your newspaper when your postal carrier delivers your mail,” writes Jeff Schumacher, publisher of Argus Observer. “This is being done throughout the industry establishing a consistent way to get your paper to you.”

Schumacher promises readers they will “see even more emphasis on the local news in both print and online,” the Enterprise reports.
