Wired has launched a weekly newsletter
and podcast under the banner of Wired Politics Lab.
The goal is to help guide readers through the “vortex” of disinformation and technology that now exists.
Appearing on Thursday, the first edition of the newsletter examines campaigns that are using social media, given passage by the House of a bill that could potentially ban
TikTok.
The first podcast is live on April 11.
Most election coverage is about the horse race.
In contrast, Wired, through a digital
lens, focuses on disinformation, online extremism, conspiracies, social platforms, election influencers and grifters, the influence of AI, and more, writes Katie
Drummond, global editorial director, explaining the turn toward politics.
Drummond adds, “We’ll also dig into policy issues core to the 2024 U.S. election through a tech-centric
lens, from AI policy to climate change to abortion access.
