Gizmodo, the U.S. news site that focuses on technology, has been acquired from G/O Media by Keleops Media Group, a tech media company based in Europe.
Terms were not disclosed.
The purchase marks the entry of Keleops into the U.S. market, and is expected to double its audience reach.
Moreover, Keleops is looking for further opportunities. Keleops has made six acquisitions in Europe since 2018.
“Acquiring Gizmodo represents a strategic move for Keleops as we continue to strengthen our presence and leadership in the tech media industry,” says Jean-Guillaume Kleis, founder and CEO Keleops. “Gizmodo is an iconic technology news brand with strong recognition worldwide, and I am delighted to welcome such a high-quality and trusted brand into Keleops family.”
Kleis adds, “We are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming the entire Gizmodo editorial team on this journey.”
G/O Media acquired Gizmodo Media Group and The Onion Inc. from Univision Communications in 2019; it has since sold several properties in the group.
