GroupM's Ramesh Quietly Exits, Eyes AI Industry Role

Bharad Ramesh has quietly departed as executive director-research and investment analytics at GroupM and is exploring a opportunities in AI.

"Bye Bye GroupM! After 3+ years of incredible work in a rapidly changing industry, it's time for a new chapter," Ramesh said in a post on his LinkedIn profile several weeks ago, adding, "Next steps - engaging with 100+ individuals to discuss our business, diving into AI."

Ramesh joined GroupM in 2021 from managing director-U.S. digital marketplace at Omnicom Media Group's PHD, but previously held senior roles in GroupM's Mindshare unit.

A GroupM spokesperson did not respond to MediaPost's query about a successor at presstime.

    The story behind the story may be that the major media buying shops have been eliminating high paid, quality media research positions for some time now and as a result, many of them are silent regarding issues like should attentivenss be a must in any new national TV rating service's design. Once upon a time the top agencies were extremely active in setting industry standards re media research as well as in developing---and promoting ---new media planning concepts. Now, one gets the impression that buying media---which is where the big fees come from--is their main concern---hence, who needs skilled and capable research or media planning generlists.
