Goodreads co-founder Otis Chandler is launching an AI-powered communications app called With Smashing, according to Goodreads.
The goal is to connect users with news articles, blog posts, social media posts and podcasts.
Goodreads is thought of us a book service, but Chandler, who left five years ago, does not agree.
“I named Goodreads ‘Goodreads’ and not ‘Goodbooks’ because I one day hoped to add articles,” Chandler says, according to Goodreads.
Goodreads was sold to Amazon in 2013, and Chandler left five years ago.
He hopes Smashing will surface posts that are worth reading while encouraging users to visit the publishers’ sites.
