Firms Work To Ensure That Press Releases Come From Verified Sources

Notified, operator of the GlobeNewswire press release service, has secured a deal to integrate Clear identity verification technology into its press release distribution platform.

The arrangement will reassure journalists that press releases they receive are authentic and bring “peace of mind to our customers and their audiences while protecting the fidelity of the corporate narrative,” says Erik Carlson, chief operating officer at Notified.

On Wednesday, Reuters and Bloomberg pulled stories after a suspiciously sourced press release was revealed.

Current Clear users can verify themselves in one step, while new users can enroll with an I.D. and a selfie. After a press released has been authenticated, a “Clear Verified” digital badge will be added to it on GlobalNewswire.com.

“By integrating CLEAR Verified into GlobeNewswire, we provide an additional layer of security, assuring audiences that the information they receive is from a verified source,” says Kasra Moshkani, executive vice president of Clear Verified.
