The Athletic has launched an editorial collectibles vertical, and it has formed a partnership with eBay to provide sports fans with trading cards and memorabilia.
The new vertical will be led by Brooks Peck, senior editor, sports memorabilia and collectibles at The Athletic. Previously, Peck was managing editor of U.S. soccer coverage for The Athletic and was the co-founder of the Yahoo Sports blog Dirty Tackle.
The Athletic will provide recommendations from collectors and industry experts.
In addition, the partners will launch a series of media campaigns later this month. And there will be branded content created for TheAthletic by T Brand Studio, promoted across the websites of The Athletic and eBay.
eBay is a leader of The Hobby, a global marketplace with 132M buyers in over 190 markets around the world.
