Did Trump Offer RFK Jr. A Cabinet Post In Exchange For Endorsement?

The Lincoln Project has asked the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate Donald Trump to determine to if he violated federal law by promising to appoint, or support for appointment, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to a public office in exchange for his endorsement.

Kennedy suspended his presidential campaign and endorsed Trump on Aug. 23.

The letter, from LP General Counsel Mario Nicalais, recounts how Trump was charged with trying to interfere with the 2016 presidential election by making payments to a porn star in a bid to keep her quiet about a sexual relationship. It also notes the DOJ’s ongoing prosecution of Trump for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential race. And  it refers to Trump’s well-publicized shenanigans in Georgia as well.

“Now it appears Trump is again interfering with free, fair elections in the 2024,” the letter states, referring to a video recording that leaked in July showing Trump telling RFK Jr., “’I would love to do something...and I think it’ll be so good for you and so big for you. And we’re going to win.’”

The letter notes that Trump wanted potential RFK votes and supporters, which he believed would help him in the upcoming election, particularly in swing states.

The LP indicated it wants the DOJ to look into allegations that Trump offered RFK Jr. a high-level post, possibly Secretary of Health & Human Services in exchange for his endorsement.

Is that like Joe using tax payer money to pay student loans for votes ? Or Harris signing a reparations bill for votes ? These articles are laughable if they only investigate one candidate.

No, it's not like either of those things at all.

Harris didn't sign any reparations bill - that's pure fiction. Biden's student loan plan doesn't pay loans off with "tax payer money" (it actually adds tax revenue because people have more money to spend on goods and services instead of handing it over to banks as interest payments.)

Neither of these things are illegal anyway. But promising a cabinet position in exchange for a political endorsement is very much against the law. Look up the Hatch Act.
